OBITUARY
William Gloster, Sr., was born in Boston, Georgia, on October 21, 1917, to Hampton Gloster and Virginia Russell-Gloster of Thomas County in Boston, Georgia.
He was one of eight children born to this union. He also had sixteen half-sisters and brothers.
In addition, his mother, father, sisters, and brothers all preceded him in death. He was the last of his family to have survived.
William was a member of Glasco AME in Boston, Georgia, until he left for Miami, Florida, and became a member of Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ in 1943, where he became Pastor, Reverend, and Apostle. Upon returning to Boston, he attended Springhill Missionary Baptist Church and later became an overseer for Triumph Church in Moultrie, Georgia.
William attended school in Boston, Georgia, where he excelled in science and farming. He was chosen to attend the New Farmers of America at the New York World’s Fair during his high school years.
In 1939, William met and fell in love with Alberta Smith. On October 19, 1940, they were joined together in holy matrimony.
Alberta preceded him in death, along with six of their sixteen children whose names were baby boy Gloster, Anita, Phillip, Mary Ellen, Bertha, and John.
William leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Geraldine Cooney whom he married January 20, 2009; William also leaves his children from the union of himself and Alberta: William Gloster, Jr., (Janice) of McDonough, GA, Cassie Gloster of Boston, GA, Jessie Williams of Miami, FL, Sarah Martin of omasville, GA, Flossie Jordan of Miami, FL, Joseph Gloster(Jacqueline) of Mulberry, FL, Anthony Gloster (Gloria) of Waycross, GA, Ethel Gloster (Ros) of Boston, GA, Priscilla Gloster of Boston, GA, and Richard Gloster (Elsa) of Miami, FL; 34 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren,
51 great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and a host of friends. William also leaves his stepchildren, Kathy Aldinger (Scott) of Savannah, Ga and Dexter Cooney of Boston, GA, and their children.
