Verdell Phillips Obituary

Mrs. Verdell Phillips was born on April 25, 1962, in Metcalf, Georgia. She was the youngest of ten children

born to the union of Ira and Marie Patterson, Sr.

 

At an early age, she converted her life to Christ and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in

Metcalf, Georgia. She attended Thomas County Central High School and worked as a caretaker. She also worked at Millpond Plantation in Thomasville, Georgia, and Chiles High School in Tallahassee, Florida.

 

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her son, Joshua Drayton; stepdaughter, Renee; goddaughter, Demalya Sapp; eight grandkids; three sisters, Linda Shabazz, Mary Louise Everett (Ben), and Marie Hobbs (Pete); brothers, Jimmy Patterson (Debra) and U.T. Leon Patterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Patterson, Sr; brother, David Patterson, Sr., Jerry Patterson, and Ira Patterson; and sister, Maple Lee Engros.
