Solomon Cooney was born October 3, 1939 to the late Benjamin Cooney, Sr. and Frances (Jones) Cooney. On Tuesday April 26, 2022 he said farewell to this world and hello to eternal life. At an early age he confessed Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Philadelphia M.B. Church of Monticello, Florida.
Solomon was educated in the New Union Elementary School system in Boston, Georgia. He worked the vocation of farmer his entire life, and he was very passionate about his work. He continued working until his health began to fail.
Solomon was joined in holy matrimony to Maggie Marie Cooney on December 23, 1967, who preceded him in death. To this union a daughter Kimberly Lynn was born December 1977.
He leaves to cherish him in memory his devoted wife Gertrude Hadley of Thomasville, Georgia. A loving and devoted daughter Kimberly Cooney-Gilbert (Theaser) of Thomasville, Georgia. A loving daughter Natalie (Dennis) Daley of Miami, Florida. Two sons, Robert (Rhonda) Clark, McCordsville, Indiana, and Darrell L. Clark, of Tampa, Florida. Goddaughter Cashonda Johnson of Thomasville, Georgia. Siblings Mary Hopkins, of Thomasville, Georgia, Adam (Dianna) Cooney, of Thomasville, Georgia. Brothers and Sisters-in-law-Robert (Dee) Clark, Batavia, Illinois, David (Lucille) Clark, of Boston, Georgia, and Horace (Sonya) Clark of Newnan, Georgia. Josephine Tillman of Thomasville, Georgia; Grace Cooney of Thomasville, Georgia. Joanne Harris of Thomasville, Georgia, Robert Johnson, Monticello, Florida. One grandson Dennis Jamal Daley of Miami, Florida, and a host nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Rev. Benjamin Cooney, Jr.
