Shanquinette Jones Obituary

Shanquinette Elece Peters blessed the world with her beautiful presence on May 17, 1971. She was the second oldest child born to Mr. Howard and Mrs. Brenda Peters. Shanquinette received her early childhood and secondary education in the Thomasville City School System. She graduated from high school in 1989 from Thomasville High School. Shanquinette was voted & crowned “Miss Homecoming” Queen for the Graduating Senior Class of 1989. Upon high school graduation, Shan attended Albany State University. Shan’s sweet and caring spirit led her to follow in the footsteps of her beautiful mother, Nurse Brenda. Shan decided to study nursing to pursue her childhood dream. She successfully completed her education and training by
graduating from the Southwest Georgia Technical College as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). After receiving her nursing degree, Shan worked at various health care facilities in the South Georgia and North Florida areas. Shan was employed as a Nurse with Southwestern State Hospital (13 years), Archbold Memorial Hospital (Thomasville), the Phoenix Mental Health Center (Thomasville), the Florida State Hospital (Chattahoochee, Florida) and most recently the Apalachee Psychiatric Facility (Tallahassee, Florida). Shan inherited an impeccable work ethic
from her parents Brenda & Howard. Her lifetime journey of public service began at age 15 years old. She worked at Arnold’s Grocery Store on Jackson Street until she graduated from high school. Her beautiful and warm smile captured everyone she encountered. Her resilience, strength and sweet, gentle spirit will be a cherished memory for her family, friends, patients & co-workers.

Earlier in life, Shan was married to Mr. Timothy Jones. To this union, two sons were born: Jalen Malik Brentavious and JaLandin Markel Brentorious. Shan was a loving and hardworking mother that always put her children and family first. It was her life’s joy to be a mother and grandmother. They were the sunshine of her life.
