Reflections of Life
Mother Janie Dunbar Grant was born in Brooks County, Georgia, on July 29, 1942, to the late Jimmy and Daisy Dunbar. At an early age, she joined New Zion Holiness Church of Boston. She later moved her membership to New Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with her husband, Deacon Hubert Grant, Jr., under the leadership of Reverend Gary Sanders.
Janie was married for 50 years to the late Deacon Hubert Grant, Jr. Janie loved her children and grands. She loved fishing, traveling, and talking on the phone. She had three phones, even an iPhone. She enjoyed going to the Scott Center of Thomasville. Janie worked at Camellia Gardens as a nurse for fifteen years. Janie was a member of Hannah Pride Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star, of Boston.
Janie leaves memories to: Sheryl (Chester) Hightower, Xylphilia (Delandre) Hicks of Boston, GA, and Gladys (George) Silas of Megis, GA; stepson, Anthony Graham, Havana, FL; three grands, CW03 Xavier (Bowie) Grant of Jacksonville, FL, and Khadiza (Artie Sr.) Thompson of Thomasville, GA; five great-grands, Xaviera, Xaviyana, Gwenavera Grant, Ka’healanie Thompson, and Artie Thompson, Jr.; three sisters, Bertha Jones of Clearwater, FL, and Mary Richardson and Rosie Henry, both of Boston, GA; one brother, Eddie (Bertha) Dunbar of Boston, GA; bonus sister, Lois Brown of Pennsauken, NJ; best friend, Matt Brooks; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Wilbert (Mary), Charlie (Mary), Elbert (Thelma), Carrie Grant, Eugene Grant, and one dedicated, Rudolph (Deborah); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by Doris Allen, Beulah White, Jacob Dunbar, Joseph Dunbar, Samule Dunbar, and Jimmy Dunbar.
