Obituary
Eula E. Revels was born on April 1, 1919, at 49 Carolina
Street in Waycross, Georgia, and was the sixth of eight children
born to Willie and Phaddie Revels.
Eula accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of
the Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Thomasville,
Georgia. She faithfully served for years in various capacities,
including church secretary and Sunday school superintendent,
until her health would not permit her to do so. She introduced
her faith in the Lord to many of her nieces and nephews, while
escorting them to Sunday school and church each Sunday
morning. She described a time when as a teenager she petitioned
the neighborhood for money to help renovate the Beulah Hill
Baptist Missionary Church from a wood frame structure to
brick.
Eula was known for her “green thumb.” Her yard was always
kept with beautiful roses, shrubs, and other plants. She worked
in the yard daily, well into her early 90s. She shared her skills with
neighbors by planting grass and flowers in some of their yards.
She performed domestic work in many private homes including
that of former Thomas County Schools Superintendent Mr.
McDaniel. She concluded her work experience as an office
cleaner at the office of the Altman Law Firm.
Eula did not have any birth children but was mother to many of
her nieces and nephews. An indication that her loving kindness
was remembered by others was when family, friends, and
children of friends came from near and far to celebrate her 98th
birthday and then returned for her 100th.
She lived to be over 103 years of age, just three months shy of
her 104th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents
and seven siblings, Annie Lou Jones, Willie Mae Carter, Susie
Ree Davis, Henry Revels, Rosa Lee Green, Gertrude Monroe,
and Beulah Mae (a.k.a. “Peewee”) Revels. She leaves to mourn
her passing and cherished memories of love: eleven nieces, five
nephews, many grandnieces and grandnephews, and a host of
other family and friends.
We celebrate God’s blessing of longevity and the wonderful
