“Buddy Boy”
Four score and one year ago March 23, 1942 in Thomasville, Georgia, Wilkin and Irene Brown gave birth to a boy child named Elijah Brown.
At an early age Elijah joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia. This was the Church He grew and flourished as a child. Elijah remained here as an adult where he served as an Usher until His health declined. He was under the leadership of Elder Markeith McCarthy.
He attended school at Douglas Elementary, Middle, and High school, where he graduated. In 1964, he met and married the “Love of His Life” Ella Mae Brown. they have been married for 59 years.
Elijah served 2 years in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Where He was awarded The Purple Heart.
He returned to Thomasville and was employed by Cokes of America and the Resource Center.
For we know that if our earthly tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (2 Corinthians 5:1) Leroy fought a good fight, He finished his course, He kept the faith, henceforth there is a crown of righteousness laid up for Him. (2 Timothy 4:7)
Preceding Him in death are: Parents; Wilkin and Irene Brown, Bothers; Elisha Brown (His Twin), and Mack Anthony Brown, Sisters Cornelia B. Holland and Earlie Renee Brown; Mother and Father In Law; Earl and Willie Mae Mitchell, Brother In Laws, Earl, William, Arthur Mitchell, and Charlie Thomas
He leaves to forever cherish memories: A Devoted Wife of 59 years Ella Mae Brown, Thomasville, Georgia, a Loving Sister Shirley Montgomery, of Thomasville, Georgia; David (Carolyn) Mitchell; Sister In Laws: Christine Mitchell, Catherine Mitchell, Anne Mitchell, and Tommie Mitchell all of Thomasville, Georgia. A Great Host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, The Entire Church Family of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and The community of Thomasville, Georgia.
