Daisy Collins Obituary

Sister Daisy Lee (Grant) Collins

Sister Daisy Lee Grant was born July 23, 1943, in Boston, GA along with her twin Brother Moses L. Grant (deceased) and would continue to be lovingly called “Sister” by her family and friends throughout her lifetime. Her mother Clifford Joyner (deceased) and father Jake Grant (deceased) raised them to be God-fearing, dedicated Christians and to always keep God first in
thoughts, prayers and spirit.
Sister Daisy’s early adult life saw her venture from her hometown of Boston, GA to Monticello, FL and onward to further her formal education at North Florida Junior College. During that time, she would meet and eventually marry John Parker Wardsworth Collins (deceased:11/1/2023) of Monticello, FL. Their union was further enhanced with two children and brought them to South Florida where they would reside for several years.
As time progressed, Sister Daisy Collins would divorce and take on the role of a single parent. She would soon find a church home at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, Miami, FL, Pastor Moses L. Paschal. Trusting in her faith she would raise her children with a strong belief in God’s teachings and trusting in the Lord, she continued her formal education and professional career at Florida Memorial College where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Sister Daisy forged many lasting and loving friendships and was blessed with a third child and a church family that continued to see her through life’s trial and tribulations. Sister Daisy touched
many lives as a Business Office Manager at Florida Memorial University, as a teacher/educator with Miami Dade County Public Schools and at Miami Job Corps before retiring in 2003 and
returning to her close hometown community in Thomasville, GA.
Upon her return to Thomasville, she wasted no time and rejoined her hometown church Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Boston, GA. Her return to her childhood communities reunited her
with family and she again fostered lasting and fond friendships in her neighborhood and community. Sister Daisy was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2001 and endured weekly dialysis treatments until her passing on November 10, 2023. She was the last living member of her family.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…

Poem
His Eye Is on the Sparrow
by C. D. Martin
Why should I feel discouraged,
Why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely
And long for Heav'n and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,”
His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness,
I lose my doubts and fears:
Tho' by the path He leadeth
But one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him,
From care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He cares for me;
