Reflection of Life

WILLIAM MCCOY July 28, 1958 – January 24, 2026

William McCoy, affectionately known to family and friends as “Curly,” was born in Metcalf, Georgia, to the late George McCoy, Sr. and Mrs. Catherine Andrews McCoy. From the very beginning, Curly’s life was rooted in family, hard work, and love.

He was a devoted father to six children: Eddie Booker (Neise); Mary Booker (preceded in death); Shirley Booker (Hubbert) (preceded in death); Willie Booker (Lisa); Billy Booker (Tonya); Sabrina Young (Terrell); and Sabrina Bowdry, goddaughter. His children were his pride, and his love for them was steady, strong, and unwavering.

Curly dedicated over 30 years of faithful service to New Hope Plantation, where he served as Assistant Manager. His commitment, loyalty, and work ethic earned him the respect of coworkers and the admiration of all who knew him. William McCoy was the winner in the GA-FL Shooting Dog Trial in 1988, Tallokas Jack, 1990, Tallokas John, 2004, New Hope Pete, and 2005 New Hope Pete.

He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Eddie McCoy; Milton McCoy (preceded in death); Ronald McCoy (Annie); Ethel Lundy (Elder Lundy); James Andrews (preceded in death); Pearl Mitchell (preceded in death); Willie Mae Graham; Lillie Mae Tillman (Willie James, preceded in death); Dorothy Stirrup (preceded in death); and Pastor Bessie Clark (preceded in death) (Terry).

Above all, Curly will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, caring brother, supportive uncle, and true friend to many. His gentle spirit, kind heart, and quiet strength touched countless lives. Though he may be gone from our sight, the love he gave and the memories he created will forever remain in our hearts.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.” — Psalm 23:1–3
