William Mark

William(Buddy) Mark was born on January 20, 1937 in Thomasville, Georgia to the union of the late Jerry and Jannie(Banks) Mark. William was the youngest of two sons born unto this union. In the late 1937, while still a young child William parents moved the family to St. Petersburg Florida. William was  affectionately referred to as “Brother, Buddy and Bill” by family and friends. William was educated through the St. Petersburg Florida ,Panellas county school system. He graduated from Gibbs High School with the class of 1956. After graduating he attended Gibbs Jr. College for one and a half years. Until he decided to enlist in the United States Army on December 7, 1960. During which time he received several Medals for Good Conduct and Marksman(rifle). He served as an Army Medic, receiving an Honorable discharge in 1966. After discharge William moved to Chicago Illinois. There he attended Cortez Peterson Business School and Allied Institute of Technology. William was a scholar, intellectually gifted; he mastered everything that he pursued. After various jobs in his major, William went to work for Greyhound Bus Lines Inc. In 1968 William was very passionate and dedicated to his job as a Bus driver(operator). In 1980”s presented with the opportunity to move back to St. Petersburg Florida ,William did not hesitate. William resettled in St. Petersburg and continued his career with Greyhound Bus Line. William accepted God as his Lord and Savor early in life. He was a faithful member and servant of Bethel Community Baptist Church until his health started failing him. In 1992 after 24 years of service he retired from Greyhound Bus lines and continued to reside in St. Petersburg Florida, until being called home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2021 at 10:00 pm. William peacefully and couragesly completed his transition with niece Brenda and close friend Sabarina at his bedside at Suncrest Hospice Center. William, one of the family genealogists, enjoyed attending family reunions, fellowshiping, traveling, living life to the fullest and sharing his Greyhound stories with anyone who would listen. He will be greatly missed for his jovial personality, kindness, sense of humor, generosity, loving, caring spirit by all that knew him. To Cherish his memories William leaves Three Nieces; close niece: Brenda Jemison of Pittsburgh, PA; Bridget Radford, Marvis Jordan of Phoenix, AZ. Two Nephews: Aress Jones, Markus Jordan of Chicago Illinois. Close Grand nephew: Marcus Jemison of Pittsburgh, PA. Close aunt: Anna (Banks) DeCosey of Waverly, Florida. Beloved friends: Seberina Goodman, Needa “Jack” Lolmpart, Barbra Williams, James Edward and Sam Bostic along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. William transition was preceded in death by his Parents: Jerry and Jannie(Banks)Mark. Brother: Moses Mark. Grandparents: Charlie and Mary Banks.
