Tom Bowdry was born on July 21, 1935, in Thomas County to the parents of David and Lucinda Bowdry. He was the 8th child of 9 children (7 boys and 2 girls) who all preceded him in going home.
On October 6, 1960, Tom found and married the love of his life, Emma Mae Briggs from Boston, GA to this union 5 children were born: Wanda (Terry) Ross, Teresa (Kayode) Oyewole, Ronald (Cheryl) Bowdry, Walter Bowdry, and Thomas (Jerrie) Bowdry and gained a Sister-in-Law: Carolyn (Phillip) Brown. Together, Tom and Emma had 9 grandchildren, and now a great-grandson is coming. He had a host of relatives and friends to the end.
Later, Tom joined Emma to become a full member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Boston, GA where he served faithfully as long as he was able to serve.
Tom worked at Archbold Hospital, Colonial Warehouse, and Thomasville City Schools. He enjoyed living life fully by fishing, cooking, watching sports, traveling, and talking. On Sunday, May 12, 2024, Tom was called home after a long and productive life of 88 years.
