Sebrena Machelle (Holton) Burney

Sanibel Island, FL

Sebrena Machelle Holton Burney was born to the late Roosevelt and Lillian Ross Holton on January 5, 1960, in St. Petersburg, FL.

She attended East Ochlochnee Elementary School and was a graduate of Central High School (Thomas County Central High School) in the year 1978. Basketball was her passion in which she excelled as a great player, a great team player, and an awesome opponent under the leadership of Coach Hilburn Donahue.

Sebrena later moved to Sanibel Island, FL. There she chose a career in food service and was employed by the Island Inn of Sanibel where she faithfully worked for 20 years and Cheeburger Cheeburger for 21 years.

She was married to Calvin Burney, Jr., after moving to Florida.

She leaves to love and cherish her memory four children: his one daughter, Tanessa Holton of Gastonia, NC; three sons, Calvin (Travis) Burney of Hobbs, NM, Michael Burney of Ft. Myers, FL, and Terrance Burney of Meredith, NH; two sisters, Cheryl (Ernest Scott) of Coolidge, GA, and Kathy (James) Spencer of Tallahassee, FL; five brothers, Kenneth Holton of Ft. Myers, FL, Wayne Holton of Columbia, SC, Daryl Holton of LeHigh, FL, Winston (Geniece) Holton of Liberty, SC, and Demetrius (Duke) Jackson of Nashville, TN; three aunts, Queen Morris Brown and Bernice Johnson Holton, both of Thomasville, GA, and Irene Preston Loggins of Ft. Myers, FL; Barbara Holton of Augusta, GA; eight grandchildren and one great-grand; and a host of loving cousins and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; grandparents, Allen and Dorothy Jones Ross, and Ella Williams and Curt Holton; two brothers, Roosevelt Holton, Jr., and Edward Jackson; and a very devoted and true friend, Matt Powell.
