Celebrating the Life of Patricia Delores Gosier Faison

As the sun began to rise on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Patricia Delores Gosier Faison peacefully transitioned from this life and was called home to be with the Lord. Just as the morning brought the promise of a new day, Patricia entered into eternal rest, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, creativity, and beautiful memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Patricia was born on August 15, 1953, in Brooks County, Georgia, the youngest of eight children born to the late Mack and Julia Gosier. As the baby of the family, Patricia held a special place among her siblings and remained deeply connected to the family and the South Georgia roots that helped shape her life.

She was educated in the Brooks County Public Schools and graduated from Brooks County High School as a member of the historic Class of 1971, the first graduating class following the integration of schools in the area. She continued her education at Valdosta State College, now Valdosta State University, where she studied nursing.

Patricia later made Miami, Florida, her home and built a life centered around family, service, creativity, and the simple joys that made life meaningful. She dedicated many years of service to the Miami-Dade Public Library System, where she remained until her retirement.

Those who truly knew Patricia, however, knew that her life could never be measured simply by where she worked or the years, she served. Patricia was a creative soul with a gentle spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. A gifted, self-taught artist and musician, she had a natural ability to create beauty and express herself through her many talents.

And then there was Patricia's cooking.

To her family, food was another way Patricia showed love. Her kitchen produced countless memories, but her famous macaroni and cheese and meatloaf held a particularly special place in the hearts and at the tables of those fortunate enough to enjoy them. They were more than favorite dishes; they became part of the family traditions and memories that will continue to be shared for generations.

Perhaps one of Patricia's greatest gifts was simply the way she made people feel. Her infectious laugh could fill a room, and her sense of humor brought lightness and joy to those around her.  She possessed a kindness that was genuine and effortless. With her gentle demeanor and welcoming spirit, Patricia had a way of making people comfortable in her presence even those she had only just met.

She loved her family deeply, and they loved her just as deeply in return. To them, she was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, confidante, and friend. Her presence was familiar and comforting, and the memories created with her from shared meals and laughter to ordinary conversations and family gatherings are now treasured gifts.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mack and Julia Gosier; her siblings, Opera Lee Beck, Eddie Mack Gosier, Sr., Clarence Jacob Gosier, Horace Wesley Gosier, and Elijah Gosier; her niece, Shirley Ann Aikens; and her nephews, Mack McKinley Gosier and Sabin Lamont Gosier.

Patricia was also deeply dedicated to Advancing Sickle Cell Advocacy Project (ASAP), wholehaeartedly supporting her daughter Kemba’s vision of educating, empowering, and advocating for families impacted by sickle cell disease. She was truly “a wheel in the middle of the wheel,” often working behind the scenes, burning the midnight oil, writing, printing, producing, planning and showing up whenever ASAP opened its doors to serve the sickle cell community.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Kemba Olabisi Gosier; her two cherished granddaughters, Marilyn Courtney Katreese Gosier and Erica Andrea Gosier; and her beloved fur baby and faithful companion, Chime, who brought her so much comfort, companionship, and joy. She is also survived by her brother, Jimmy C. Gosier; her sister, Alma Gosier-Brown; and her sister-in-law, Sandra Smith Gosier.

She will also by lovingly remembered as “Auntie Trish” by her cherished nieces and nephews: Marilyn Denson; Eddie Mack Gosier, Jr. (Tammie); Elijah Gosier, II; Jameelah Brown Ferrell; Kameelah Spence (Maurice); Connie Lee Cotton; Christopher Gosier; Clarence Brandon Gosier; Erica Dennard; Mary Stewart; Eric Joyce and Warren Joyce.

Her legacy of family and love continues through her great-nieces and great-nephews: Kia Gary, Elijah Gosier, III, Trevan A. Gosier, Zachary Gosier, Zoei Gosier, Mardoni LaGuerre, Sunnah Maddox, Ariella Gosier, Alana Gosier, Bruno Clarence Gosier, Alana Grace Gosier, and Kairo Jacob Gosier.

Patricia also leaves a host of cherished cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were made brighter because she was part of them.  Although her family will deeply miss her laughter, her cooking, her creativity, her gentle presence, and all of the little things that made Patricia uniquely Patricia, they find comfort in knowing that the love she gave did not leave with her. It lives on in her daughter and granddaughters, in her family, in the stories that will continue to be told, in recipes prepared in her memory, in laughter shared around family tables, and in every heart fortunate enough to have known her.

As the sun rose on the morning Patricia left this earthly life, a beautiful chapter came to a close. Yet the warmth of her life remains a quiet reminder that a life filled with kindness, laughter, creativity, family, and love leaves a light that never truly fades.

Patricia was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
