Life Reflections

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartly, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”

Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

Lucinda Johnson was a shining light who touched the lives of many. A woman of deep faith, she loved the Lord with all her heart and served Him faithfully. Lucinda loved her family dearly and had a special place in her heart for everyone she called family or friend. With a smile that could light up a room and an infectious laugh that warmed the heart, Lucinda truly impacted all who knew her. She had her own style, loved to dress up, and had a special fondness for shoes. It was in her kitchen where her magic really happened; you could taste the love and passion she poured into her cooking. Her cakes, especially her red velvet and chocolate cakes, were a taste of heaven.

At an early age, Lucinda accepted Christ as her personal savior and stayed true to that commitment throughout her life. For over sixty years, she was a faithful member of Providence MB Church. As a leader and member of the usher board, her inviting smile and welcoming spirit were the first things many encountered. Her dedication was unmatched, ensuring that the decorum of the service was always upheld. This infectious smile wasn’t limited to the church. Lucinda adored her job and the extended family she found among her colleagues at Warners. Her love for life was also evident in the Alfresco Social Club, of which she was a founding member, where she found joy in fellowship, fun, and serving the community.

Lucinda was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Dunlap and Roscoe Warren, and her dear uncle, Cap Grant. She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her children, Debra Denson and Charles Denson; grandchildren, Dushan Hunter, Tashard Choice (Rebecca), Lamoyia Denson, and Tarus Choice; great- grandchildren, Ashiah Roan and Nyla Choice; sisters-in-law, Carestine Denson and Sharlotte Denson Evans; brother-in-law, Curtis Denson; spiritual sisters, Emorial Mitchell and Frances Sanders; nieces, Jacquise Jackson, Rosanna Thompson, Audrey Wooten, Janice Buckner, Agnes Russell, Gail Sanders, Loraine Rhodes, Valerie Whaley, and Bobbie Dee Smith; nephews, Gerald Mitchell and George Thompson; goddaughters, Pamela Kinsler, Shunterria Kinsler, and Destiny Kinsler; godson, Tyrone Boatman; special friends, Josephine Rawls and Betty Herbert; special neighbors, Gloria James and Matilda Jones; devoted caretaker, Gwendolyn Gloster; Lucinda also leaves behind a multitude of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Lucinda’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family. As we come together to honor her memory, let’s celebrate the wonderful life she lived. She may not be with us physically, but her spirit and her legacy will always be alive in our hearts. Rest well, Lucinda. You are loved and missed.
