Mrs. Mattie Freeman-Williams, born on February 7, 1942, to the late Willie Freeman and Mary Smith Freeman, was called home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2024. She was a devoted follower of Christ and a proud member of the House of Joy under Dr. Verbertha Tillis. Her unwavering faith was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.
Mrs. Mattie was married to the late Bennie Williams Sr., with whom she shared a life filled with love and devotion. She dedicated many years to the medical field before returning to Georgia in 1975. She later worked in farming, as a cafeteria cook, and as a home health caretaker. In 2013, she retired and settled in Thomasville, Georgia.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Susie Hawthorne of Florida, Patricia Williams-Pike of Georgia, and Clifton Williams of Florida. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Bennie Williams Jr.
Her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy, include Selessia McRay of Florida, Bennie Williams III of Florida, Eddie Dunbar Jr. of Minnesota, the late Bridget Flounory, Emmanuel J. Dunbar (Lakeisha) of Florida, Raquel Pike-Mills (Brannon) of Florida, Marquel Pike (Courtney) of New Jersey, Taneil Pike of Georgia, Serdiren Woodley (Akeria) of Florida, Clifton Williams Jr. of Florida, LaShaveya Williams of Georgia, Jaquan Bryant of Florida, and Christopher Williams of Florida. She was also blessed with 20 great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her memory forward.
Mrs. Mattie is survived by her loving siblings: Johnnie Mae King of Hollywood, Florida, Gladys Shiver of Thomasville, Georgia, Dorothy Brinson of Thomasville, Georgia, Margaret Lovett of Thomasville, Georgia, Roger Freeman (Helen) of Thomasville, Georgia, and Carolyn Dumas of Thomasville, Georgia.
Her extended family includes her devoted sister-in-law, Mary Frances Williams of Thomasville, Georgia, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives who adored her.
Mrs. Mattie Freeman-Williams will forever be remembered for her faith, resilience, and selfless devotion to her family and community. Her love and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
