Martha Virginia (Denson) Williams

Martha Virginia Williams a long-time resident of New Rochelle, New York became absent from the body and present with the lord on Friday morning August 20, 2022, at Stafford Regional Hospital, Stafford Virginia.  Where she relocated to be cared for by her daughter Vanessa Byrd and her family.

Martha was born July 8, 1943, to the late Samuel Denson and Evelyn Denson Bivens.  To this union, she was the eldest of four children.  (Rufus, Christine, and Samuel Jr. (deceased).

She attended and graduated from Douglas High School in 1961 and continued her education at Morris Brown College, Atlanta GA.  Later moving to New York where she married the late Kenneth Williams Jr. on  November 27, 1965, at Macedonia Baptist Church, Mount Vernon NY.  Unto this union two children were born Katrina A. Postell (Columbia, SC) and Vanessa Byrd (Stafford, VA.)

During her life in New York(Mount Vernon) she was employed by Nabisco Brands Inc. and Rotanelli Foods Inc.(New Rochelle).  For more than 40 years Martha and Kenneth resided in New Rochelle at their iconic homestead '41 Chauncey Avenue'.  It was the home where she enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends during the holidays, watching game shows, and talking on the phone with friends and family for hours on end at the kitchen table!

Martha accepted Christ at a young age.  She was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church, Mount Kisco New York.   Later relocating to Virginia to live with her daughter attending Peace Baptist Church Dunn-Loring VA in 2012 until her health began to decline.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Williams Jr.;  her parents Samuel Denson Sr. and Evelyn Denson Bivens; and brother Samuel Denson Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters: Katrina Postell of Columbia, SC., Vanessa Byrd (Vincent) of Stafford VA.; Grandchildren Jasmine, Jasia, and Kendric Postell of Columbia, SC., Vaughn, Victoria, Vance, and Vincent Byrd Jr. of Stafford, VA. Two siblings Rufus Denson (Judy) Durham, NC.  Christine Ernest (Earl) Travelers Rest, SC.  Brother-in-law Walter Williams (Martha) Thomasville, GA.  (2)  Sisters-in-law "Belle C. Williams, and Clara Cradle of Thomasville, GA.  Nieces and nephews, Kimberly Denson Davis and Kayla Davis, Durham, NC., Kiszy Repshis, Glen Ernest SC., Tamara Ernest, Chester Ernest (Pa), Fabian Ernest (VA), Jerry Ernest (NJ), Cashina Jones (NY)  Cameron Ernest (St. Lucia), Lennon Ernest (Cannada), Darryl Denson (MD) Desma Denson and Samuel Denson Jr. (FL).  Dear Family and Friends Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Walker of New Rochelle, NY.  and nieces and nephews (Williams Family) who she loved so much, and a host of other relatives and friends.
