Marranda Shanderia Coleman
December 6, 2005 – July 6, 2025

Marranda Shanderia Coleman was born on December 6, 2005, to Shanna L. Brooks and Mark A. Coleman in Thomasville, Georgia. She departed this life on July 6, 2025, at Arthur M. Blank CHOA in Atlanta, Georgia.

Marranda was educated in the Thomas County School System, graduating from the Thomas County Central High School Class of 2024. Later, she attended Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven, Georgia, on a Track and Field Scholarship, but discontinued after completing the Spring and Fall semesters due to declining health.

In her earlier years, Marranda joined Paradise Missionary Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia.

Marranda, affectionately known as “Speedy,” was a very bright beaming light to all the world. She was a young lady who believed in living each day with a purpose in her heart. Marranda was an athlete by nature and caring by choice. She valued deep connections, strong values, and the uplifting of the people around her.

Marranda’s passions were running track, playing basketball, being the Queen of TikTok, a Fork Fairy, and really loving being able to bring her family together.

Marranda was able to reach a great milestone in her life, which included the breaking of an 11-year 400M Dash track record with a score of 58:12!! Three weeks later, on April 13, 2021, after being diagnosed with Chordoma Cancer, her battle began. Even in the midst of this battle, she never once complained. Whenever she was asked how she was feeling, her famous reply would always be, “I’m good!”

Marranda is survived by a very loving and devoted mother, Shanna L. Brooks; father, Mark A. Coleman; her baby parakeet, “Pixie”; very special loved ones; her loving sister, Taramina (Robert) Turner; brother, Demarion A. Sawyer; and sister, Kordae Bowden. She also leaves to cherish her great memories her loving niece, Rheigan Turner, and nephew, Tristen Turner. She also leaves to cherish a grandmother, Miriam P. Brooks; grandfather, Bobby (Jeanette) Brooks Sr.; a special “Nana,” Eleanor Homer; two aunts, Kecie Brooks and Katarina (Moses) Stephens; one loving and devoted uncle, Bobby (Shannon) Brooks Jr. She will also be remembered by two caring godmothers, Shawnta Pope and Barbara A. Wilson, and a host of cousins and very special dear friends.

Marranda was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, JB (Annie Bell) Peterman; paternal grandparents, Willie (Nettie Faye) Coleman; an adopted grandfather, Sammy D. Mathis; her fur baby, “Rambo”; and great-grandmother, Pearline Brooks.
