Obituary

Leroy “Duke” McCoy, Jr., was born in Jefferson County on April 29, 1932, to the late Lee and Essie McCoy. He was converted and joined St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church at an early age. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Lessie Mae Wilkins McCoy; brothers, Clarence McCoy, William McCoy, and Sylvester McCoy; sisters, Leola McCoy, Essie Mae Taylor, and Bertha Lee Ross; the late Patricia Ann McCoy; daughter-in-law and grandson, Eric McCoy, and daughter, Eula Mae Peoples.

He leaves to mourn: his loving brother, Albert (Mary) McCoy, Sr., of Thomasville; and special, devoted friend, Juanita Smith of Thomasville.

Leroy loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them places and spending time with them.

Our dearly departed father and loved one, Leroy “Duke” McCoy, left a legacy of love and care after an extended illness. God called our loved one home on December 14, 2023.

Leroy will forever be remembered and never forgotten by his children, Leroy McCoy III (Janice), Kenneth Lee McCoy, Ma’Kala McCoy of Thomasville, Brenda Jones (Wayne), and Janice McCoy (Joe) of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Latasha McCoy, a loving and devoted grandson, Kenneth McCoy, Jr., Timothy McCoy (Phyllings), Lashonda McCoy, Terry McCoy, Derrick McCoy, Jahari Baynard, Malaya Baynard, Theresa Coston (Kenneth) of Thomasville, Tyronda Bell (Quintin) of Jacksonville, FL, Lasheka Scharoun (Jeron Scharoun, Sr.), TyKesha McCoy, Rodney Jones, Jr., and Deandre Lacayo of Miami, FL; great- grandchildren, Sloan, Seth, Jamesha, Carlos Jr., Shacariah, Ricardo, Shanterrica, Zoey, Derrick, Erykah, Trinity, Johniyah, Marquis, J. B., Katrissia, and Erie of Thomasville, Jeron Jr., LaBron, Jenae, and Tyrell of Miami, FL, Ja’Rivion, Lannis, and Landaijah of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
