Josephine Sampson was born on April 1, 1944, in Thomasville, Georgia. She was the third of four children born to David Williams, Sr., and Charlotte Brinson Williams. Josephine accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. Upon moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she became a member of Abundant Life Church. Josephine met and married the love of her life, Charles Sampson, Sr., and to this union, two children were born. She graduated from Washington Consolidated School and attended Paine College. She was employed as a nurse with Memorial Regional Hospital for many years. She was a faithful member of Faith International Ministries for the last twenty years. Josephine lived a life of unconditional love for everyone she encountered. Some of the last words she said before her transition were, “I love God so much.” Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sampson, Sr.; parents, David Williams, Sr., and Charlotte Brinson Williams; oldest son, Charles Sampson, Jr.; brother, David Williams, Jr., SSG, USA; and sister, Gloria Jean Sloan.
As a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother she enjoyed spending time and caring for her
loved ones before her health failed. Josephine leaves to cherish her precious memories: her son, Gregory Sampson, Sr.; brother, Elijah Williams of Beachton, GA; two sisters-in-law, Martha Sampson of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Loney Thompson of Tallahassee, FL; two grandchildren who were her caretakers until she transitioned, granddaughter, Chantoria M. Sampson, and grandson, Charles Sampson III; three grandchildren, Cornelius Sampson, Gregory Sampson, and Shakayla Sampson, who resided with her before the failure of her health; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, all of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two dear friends, Dorothy Young and Delores Porter, both of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a nephew she held dear to her heart, Christopher Sloan of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Josephine truly exemplified a Proverb 31 woman and displayed love every opportunity she got.
