She worked as a cook at Southwestern State Hospital for more than 30 years. She also showcased her skills as a cook in various local restaurants, family reunions & church functions.In her spare time, you could find her in the backyard planting and re- potting flowers. Many of her ferns have been displayed on floats, at weddings, and in local competitions. Johnnie Mae loved. family and friends and left a memorable impact with everyone she met. Her comical sense of humor often filled the room with laughter.At an early age, Johnnie Mae gave her life to the Lord and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.She later moved her membership to Antioch M.B. Church. For the past 20 years she was a faithful member of First Unity M.B. Church.

One brother, John Henry (Carrie) Payne, Gainesville, FL; sister in laws, Vineva Payne, Monticello, FL; Helen (Nathan) Reynolds, Miccosukee, FL; Mable Johnson, Chrisrine Ford, and Clara Ross, all of Thomasville, GA; Rev. Charlie Ross (Janice) Boston, GA. and Jessie “Bobby” Ross, Thomasville, GA; daughter in laws, Genorris Ross, Wendy Ross, Thomasville, GA. 32 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; special friends Louette Hill and El Baker, Junita Thompson; devoted caregiver Lanet Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.She is preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy
