Jimmie Lee Hill affectionately known as “Heavy” transitioned peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022, after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer. Jimmie was a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be missed by many.
On November 6, 1949, in Thomas County, Georgia the late Sam and Ada Hill welcomed Jimmie Lee Hill into the world. As one of eight children on the farm, he was often the quiet but caring brother to his siblings.
In 1973 Jimmie met Karen Farrow. The two wed in 1976 and began the journey of parenthood. From this union three children were born. Although the two parted ways, the couple remained friends. Later in life Jimmie met his life partner Berta Guajardo. The two shared a love for adventure and family. Through this courtship, the joys of parenthood were expanded and together they raised two sons.
Jimmie was a man of many talents. He served his country in the United States Army from 1969-1971. After being honorably discharged from the military, Jimmie worked for Ford Motor Company for several years in New Jersey. Upon relocating to Miami, Florida, Jimmie worked for the United States Postal Service for 36 years.
Jimmie had many hobbies and passions. Some of his most notable talents centered around cars. He could be seen visiting race tracks, car shows, and collecting memorabilia with his son and several friends. He was also the family go to whenever a vehicle needed repair or a decision for a new purchase needed to be made. Jimmie lived his retirement years in sunny Miami, Florida with his life partner Berta. They enjoyed traveling across the country and visiting with family and friends. He was an ever present father and grandfather. He took pride in celebrating accomplishments and creating experiences for his children and grandchildren.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers. Jimmie leaves to carry on his memory: his partner Berta; daughters Femi of Covington, Georgia and Asha (son-in-law Michael) of Riverview, Florida; and sons Omar (daughter-in-law Alexandria) of Fort Polk, Louisiana, Mario of Oahu,Hawaii and Marcos of Valparaiso, Florida; four grandchildren Langston, Lyric, Olivia, Liam, and one on the way; siblings Alfred and Hazel Hill, Elijah and Phyllis Hill, Pearlie and Edward Jett, Nadene and Ronald Holloway; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
