Howard Shepherd Gilmore, affectionately known as Uncle Howard and lovingly called “Porkchop” entered eternal rest on May 31, 2026, at the age of ninety. He will be remembered as a strong foundation within his family, a man whose life reflected deep love, steady presence, and remarkable endurance through life’s seasons. Uncle Howard dedicated himself to his loved ones and lived with loyalty, pride, and a deep sense of responsibility to those around him. His life leaves behind a legacy of family unity, respect, and enduring love that will continue to be felt for generations.

Howard Shepherd Gilmore was born on May 13, 1936, in Thomas County, Georgia, to the late Emma Safronia Delaney and Robert Gilmore, Sr. He was raised with values of faith, perseverance, respect, and family that would guide him throughout his life. Known for his quiet strength, caring nature, and steadfast devotion to those he loved, he touched the lives of many through his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering presence.

Throughout his years, Uncle Howard was known for his independence, consistency, and the quiet but lasting impact he made on those closest to him. His presence was grounding, his character memorable, and his life reflected endurance, dignity, and personal pride.

He was preceded in death by:

• His mother: Emma Safronia Delaney Gilmore

• His father: Robert Gilmore, Sr.

• His sister: Emma Grace Grisset

• His brothers: Robert Gilmore, George Gilmore, and Clarence Gilmore, Sr.
