Howard Shepherd Gilmore was born on May 13, 1936, in Thomas County, Georgia, to the late Emma Safronia Delaney and Robert Gilmore, Sr. He was raised with values of faith, perseverance, respect, and family that would guide him throughout his life. Known for his quiet strength, caring nature, and steadfast devotion to those he loved, he touched the lives of many through his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering presence.

He was preceded in death by:

• His mother: Emma Safronia Delaney Gilmore

• His father: Robert Gilmore, Sr.

• His sister: Emma Grace Grisset

• His brothers: Robert Gilmore, George Gilmore, and Clarence Gilmore, Sr.

They will forever remain a treasured part of his life and legacy.

He leaves to cherish his legacy:

• His loving daughter: Emerald Johnson (Stevie)

• His nieces: Clarissa Mitchell and Linda Gilmore-Barnes (Tommy)

• His nephews: Larry McPherson, Robert Gilmore, Howard Gilmore, and Willie Jones (Topreka)

• His bonus nephews: Steve Walker (Jacqueline) and Willie Simmons

• A host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever honor and cherish his memory.
