Gussie Mae Green was born on January 6, 1935, to the late Joe Peterson and the late Ruthshell Peterson. She was raised by a special aunt the late Cappie May Davis and the late Charlie Davis. She accepted the lord at an early age, which made a great impact on her life. She enjoyed working for many people in the community and was known for being kind and gentle.

Gussie often reflected on her youthful years and the hard work she endured. She always talked about her parents and siblings. Even during the latter part of her life, she would name them one by one. At times Gussie couldn't remember drinking a cup of coffee, but she had no problem naming her children and all of their birthdates. She was proud to tell us about riding on a motorcycle to California with her husband, the fishing and boat rides brought back fond memories to her. She enjoyed life and embraced it as long as she could. Most of all, she lived a remarkable life of love, forgiveness, blessing others, and she had an attitude of not complaining. She would always say, "Whatever will be, will be.
