George Patton Calloway was born on December 4, 1947, in Thomas County, Georgia, to the late Robert and Bertha Calloway. At school age, he attended South Coolidge Elementary and later graduated from Magnolia High School in Thomasville, Georgia. At Magnolia High, he played football with the Mighty Buccaneers

While in elementary school, he joined Sweetfield Missionary Baptist Church and attended occasionally during his adult life. Shortly after graduation, George joined the United States Army in 1966. He enjoyed his family, friends, and was very outgoing.  In the late 1960s, he married Juanita Thompson, and to this union, two beautiful daughters were born, Sharon Grant and Demetrice Calloway. Later in life, he married Barbara Reed and moved to St. Louis, Missouri. After relocating back to Thomasville, Georgia, George married Mary Haywood. They were faithfully married until her death.
