Emma Lou
Our dear mother Emma Lou Garbo sadly passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the age of 82. Mrs. Emma Lou was born on December 14, 1940, in Thomasville, Georgia to the late Willie Bell Collins (her mother) and late Sanders Hightower (her father). She graduated from Central High School in Thomasville Georgia. She was a wonderful wife to the late Martin Garbo Sir. Together they raised 10 children, 21 grandchildren, and 20+ great-grandchildren. She worked for the school board for 15 years but retired from Malloy's Nursery after 40 years in Monticello, Florida.
She was loved by many and was always there when we needed her.
She had many friends and was well-loved in the community in Boston, Georgia. She was preceded in death, by her brothers and sisters: Lillie Ruth Goiser, Helen Evelyn Adams, Curtis Lenoris Hightower, Carl Hightower, James Mckaskill, Ida Mckaskill, Molly Bell Hightower, Willie Bell Pettis, L.H. Hightower, Beaulah Hightower, Janice Lee Hightower, Sanders Hightower Jr., Billy Robinson, Henry Hightower, Lucy Hightower and is survived by her sisters: Shirley Newkirk, Patricia Hightower, Bertha Dunbar and brother Richard Hightower all of Boston, Georgia.
