Tommy Lee Baker Jr. (Gent) was born on December 23, 1939, to the late Tommy Lee Baker Sr. and Myrtle Jacobs. Tommy transitioned at Archbold Memorial Hospital on August 31, 2024, earning his heavenly wings. He was a loving person and loved life. He was a faithful Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church member and served in many capacities.
He graduated from Douglas High School in Thomasville, Georgia, in 1960. He retired from Southwestern State Hospital as a Facilities Police Sergeant with 30 years of service. He also worked as a Patient Care Specialist at Archbold Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. T
Tommy was a member of Ebenezer Lodge #956 and a member of Past Grand Exalted Ruler Council #33, Georgia State Association of Brother Elks, State Security Department, Georgia Antler Guard Brigade, Chief of State, Commander and Colonel of the Company-E Antler Guard Department, and the Elite Past Grand Exalted Rulers Council. He was also a Mason and a member of the Men About Town Club.
Tommy leaves to cherish his loving memories two sons: Christopher Jackson of Thomasville, Georgia, and Dewayne Jackson of Valdosta, Georgia; two daughters: Kaija Jackson Sinkfield of Thomasville, Georgia, and Melissa Thompson of Tallahassee, Florida; three sisters, Kimberly Harris of Thomasville, Georgia and Jacquelin & Sherryl Baker of St. Petersburg, Fl.; a brother, Toby Baker of St. Petersburg, Florida, and grandchildren: Caliyah Sinkfield, Siheed Sinkfield, Ashley Battle, Sherriona Jackson, Kaya Jackson, Ahman Samuel, and Ariel Holland. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Chosen Battle and Choice Battle; a devoted friend, Shirley Wilkins; godchildren: John Wilkins, Vanessa Dawson, Kimberly Wilkins, and Gregory Wilkins; along with a host of cousins, other relatives, neighbors, and friends.
He was Preceded in death by his late wife, Sherry Ann Baker & son, Tommy L. Baker III “Sonny”. Tommy’s earthly journey has ended. Be at rest in God’s love.
