Cleo Burkes

Mr. Cleo Burkes, who departed this life on March 29, 2024.  He was the son of the late Mr. Fest and Mrs. Janie Holmes Burkes, born April 17, 1937, in Coolidge, GA.

He attended Coolidge High School after he worked for many years with Ivey Drywall and other jobs.  Cleo also was a bus driver for Thomas County Schools for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Fest and Janie Holmes Burkes, two brothers: Kelly David Burkes and Willie James Burkes; three sisters, Bertha B. Washington, Catherine B. Robinson, Nettie B. Hunt; and one daughter, Barbara B. Larkins.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons Cleo Burkes, Jr., (Moultrie, GA), and Kim Burkes (Pavo, GA), daughters Katherine Burkes (Moultrie, GA), Deidra (Timothy)Davis (Pavo, GA); one sister Mrs. Geraldine Williams (Coolidge, GA); Ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two special friends Mr. Floyd Guice and Mr. George Brinson, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Special grandson Lamont Burkes (Thomasville, GA)
