He joined the church at twelve years old. He attended New Union and Magnolia High School where he met his high school sweetheart Mary Jane Ross. They were united in holy matrimony in 1964. In this union, they were blessed with two lovely children, a son Curtis James Glass and a daughter Janice Angeline Glass. Bob and Mary Jane were married for 58 years. Bob Glass departs from his devoted wife Mary Jane Glass of Boston, Georgia, son Curtis James Glass of Thomasville, Georgia and daughter Janice Angeline Glass of Orlando, FL. Brothers and sisters; Janie Gilbert of Boston, Georgia, Willie Joe Glass of McDonough, Georgia, John (Helen) Glass of Coolidge, Georgia, Isiah (Dorothy) Glass of Pavo, Georgia and Paul (Gloria) Glass of Boston, Gladys Rose Favors. Bob will be proceeded in death by his siblings; Nellie Glass, Annie Rose Glass, Kenneth Glass, James Benjamin (JB), and Josephine Glass. Bob led his life caring about others and loved learning and contributing. His legacy can be best transcribed how he continued to grow and give where he worked. Bob learned how to do things at an early age because of times he came up in. Such as how to plow with a mule, building a mule drawn cart with his brother Kenneth Glass as young boys. He made payments on a bicycle faithfully and on time, so he could have transportation to his job at a local plantation, down the long miles of dirt roads. He gained his electrician skills from a skilled electrician on the plantation. He worked many jobs to keep him busy while engaged to his future wife Mary, who he was waiting for to finish high school. While waiting for his bride he worked at Magnolia High School as a janitor, drove a school bus, and then drove log trucks for Metcalf Lumber Company. After he got married, he worked at Southwestern State Hospital where he started out as a Hospital Attendant working with mentally Ill patients. The hospital saw his caring nature, and recruited him to work with patients in a Vocational Rehabilitation Program where he assisted and supervised patients (with George Brown) to build frame work for a local furniture company. He did this successfully for many years in collaboration with Mr. Brown. Next he was recruited to be a Carpenter at Southwestern State Hospital, then got sought after as a Senior Craftsman-Head Maintenance Man on the Rose Haven Section of the Hospital. This was an extremely important area for the whole hospital operation as he was in charge of fixing wheel chairs, water beds hydraulic lifts, welding, building cabinets, pluming, electrical work and many other skilled projects. Before retiring, Bob worked a short stint at Valdosta State Prison. There is no telling how many cabinets, bookshelves, etc., he built in Thomas County and surrounding areas in his spare time. He was good with farming, animals, mechanics, autos, small engines, and tractors. He went to Birdwood College for IBM Key Punch. He was a great family historian. When he was in high school he participated in NFA, was skilled on the piano, guitar, harmonica on which he placed second place in a Talent show almost stealing first place! He loved his cowboy boots, hats and belt buckles. He could quote scriptures and songs with incredible accuracy and he aslo sung in a quartet on the radio. He had a great love for dogs. His favorite dog, Booker T, sadly died the next day, and will be buried with him. As you see, Bob was such a giving, generous, helpful man, and could get a smile out of anyone. He had a way to uplift people with his brand of humor, and his never ending quotes that made us laugh. He got up out of his bed many times at night to help pull someone out of the ditch or run to their aid when in trouble. Bob was G-daddy, to his several god children, There is just to much more to say, but most of all, we will miss him. He is and was an amazing,
