Obituary
Bertha Lee “Sister” Ross was born in Jefferson County on December 2, 1935, to the late Lee and Essie McCoy. She was converted and joined St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church at an early age.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Joiner; brothers, Clarence McCoy, William McCoy, and Sylvester McCoy; sisters, Leola McCoy and Essie Mae Taylor; and grandsons, Michael Carr and Jarrance Carr.
Bertha attended the public schools of Leon County. She was a domestic worker for many years before she retired.
Bertha loved God, life, and family. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family the most, but she also loved shopping, gardening, cooking, and fixing things around her house.
Our dearly departed loved one, Bertha Lee “Sister” Ross, left a legacy of love and care after an extended illness. On Thursday, June 22, 2023, God called our beloved home.
Bertha’s memories will forever be cherished by her children, Roger Lee Carr, Sr., of Thomasville, Sharon (Charles) Thomas of Thomasville, and Abigail Ross of Thomasville; grandchildren, Raneshia Walden of Thomasville, Brandon Thomas of Thomasville, Roslyn Thomas of Thomasville, Tameka (Sam) German of Tallahassee, FL, Latasha Carr of Apopka, FL, Kechia (Shaunke) Barber of Tallahassee, FL, Wakeelah Spivey of Thomasville, Denise Bates of Thomasville, Reyes Carr of Thomasville, Roger Carr, Jr., of Thomasville, and Damon Anthony of Troy, AL; brothers, Leroy (Juanita) McCoy, Sr., of Thomasville, Albert (Mary) McCoy, Sr., of Thomasville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
