Reflection of Life
Deacon Allen House, Jr. was born on August 8, 1937 to the late Moses McGill and Elizabeth House in Coolidge, GA. He did not complete high school but was a man of many trades and talents. Allen left the area as a young man and lived up north many years. On July 14, 1978 Allen married Cora Holland Nixon who preceded him in death in 2013. When returning to Thomasville, he worked many jobs one mainly at Revills Pulpwood Company until he retired. After retirement, Allen and Cora owned a business preparing wild game for customers near and far that was very successful until Cora became ill to continue before passing. Allen also had his own lawn care business in for many years until his illness caused him to stop. He was a Deacon at the Rose City Church of Christ and had been a member for years. Awesome prayer warrior and hymnist, he enjoyed telling others about the goodness of God. Gave his own testimonies of how God brought him out of so many circumstances.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Nathan Brown, in 2026.
He leaves to mourn 5 children: Phyllis Y. Coleman (Dennis-deceased), Katrina D. Nixon, Henry J. Nixon, Jr. (Cassandra), Michael A. Nixon (Yolanda), Cheryl J. Thompson-all of Thomasville, Ga. Siblings: Vivian Pink, Gail Muhammed, Lewis Worthy-all of Columbus, GA and James Worthy of Whigham, GA, Brother Wayne McGill of Atlanta, GA. 11 grands, 10 great grands.
